Equality Act 2010 – Blancos, Port Talbot
Blancos Hotel and Restaurant welcomes people with disabilities and has developed the Access Statement to address some of the common issues which Disabled People may face.
We aim to ensure that all employees, guests and others who use the hotel are treated equally and according to their needs.

Blancos Hotel and Restaurant is situated just 5 minutes from Port Talbot Town Centre, with an underground subway directly outside of the hotel which leads to the front of Port Talbot Bus Station. Public transport to and from Port Talbot is good as are many areas of the town. The local train station is also situated a small distance away from the hotel with adequate taxi facilities if required.
Car Parking Facilities
We have 2 designated disabled parking spaces in both of our private car parks and our disabled guests are encouraged to unload directly outside the hotel before parking to make arriving as easy as possible.
Main Entrance / Lounge Areas / Reception
We have a ramp leading to the main entrances of the hotel and a lift inside, making it easy for guests to arrive in comfort. Entrance has electric sliding doors and the reception desk has both high and low levels ensuring that arrival and registration are suitable for all visitors. Guest Registration can be completed whilst sitting and we have clipboards available.
The ground floor of the hotel is completely level and the lounge areas are spacious enough to accommodate wheelchairs comfortably. If a Wheelchair is to be taken into the restaurant we will try our best to accommodate you as close to the main door to provide easy access. We also have a disabled toilet facility on the ground floor level. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate all our guests we have to abide by all applicable legislation and policies to ensure compliance. To this end our managers and staff will ensure equality and health, safety and environment procedures are adhered to and occasionally decisions may have to be made to ensure compliance.
Public Areas
Our lift has audible enunciation and tactile buttons with braille at a suitable height. The lift serves all floors of the hotel, and a variety of double and twin bedded rooms are available throughout the hotel with one disabled twin room on each floor.
An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor with level access and is fitted with grab rails and an alarm.
Bedrooms
The hotel was established over seven years ago and is a modern business boasting 63 bedrooms all of which are en-suite.
Telephones are provided in all bedrooms and can be used for outside calls as well as internal to reception if assistance is required. Emergency Cords can be found in each of the rooms suitable for disabled persons and assistance dogs are welcome in the hotel at no additional cost.
Local Areas
Port Talbot is well suited to all with it being mostly on level ground with lowered pavements at crossing points in the town.
Our shops are at street level mostly and motorised scooters and wheelchairs can be hired from the town centre.
Local attractions with disabled facilities are aplenty and the staff at Blancos would be more than happy to make enquires on your behalf either prior to your stay or while you are with us if you wish to visit a particular venue.
